A Day In The Life Of An Urban Professional

Disclaimer: This blog is going to be really conversational. Since we all are at home, exhausted of infinite thoughts, I didn’t want to barge in with some learning lesson. Rather I would like to have a conversation. I know it’s pretty unusual. Conversation doesn’t happen over a blog. Why not? Sit tight, you will have fun reading this.

A day in the life of a professional of any profession is very interesting. That’s what I believe. There is a common perception that some professions are crazy interesting, some are tediously boring. Well, I believe every job has its goods and bads. I am a content writer and digital marketer. People believe I have an interesting job to perform. And I agree with them with no hesitation. I love doing what I do.

This blog is going to be all about a quintessential day in my life. I am sure many of you can relate to this blog. If you are in corporate you can totally relate to me. If you are not someone who is working and want to venture into this sector then this might be of some help for you to foresee your upcoming working days. Believe me, it’s going to be awesome!

Before I get started with my crisp, easy, interesting schedule, I want to give you a little back story. I want you to know what I do typically so that you can relate to my day. Well, I am a student who started working a little early in life. So I have my college studies along with my job. I run this blog and do a bit of freelancing. So on a regular basis, I need to deal with all of this along with friends and family.

So here’s how I spend my days.

The Wake-Up Call

I am not a morning person. Lately, I watched some morning routines on youtube and I was obsessed with it. I kept watching them on loop. Out of inspiration and self-motivation, I wake up now at 6:00 am in the morning.

I set my alarm for every ten minutes. I use the alarmy app. It is great for people who have a deep sleep like mine. It doesn’t go off till you perform a task (ex – solve a puzzle, click a picture). It really helps me to get started in the morning.

Get Done With The First Batch Of Work

One of the reasons I wake up early in the morning is to write blogs. I feel I get the best ideas in the morning. There are no other thoughts in my mind and there is silence. During the day there is too much of a hustle. I really can’t concentrate, so I choose mornings to write my blogs.

Perform My Morning Rituals

I have a set of irreplaceable morning rituals. As soon as I wake up, I drink a glass of water. Ideally, it should be hot water but I don’t like the taste of it. After that, I brush and do my skincare routine. Once I am feeling all fresh, I like to spend some time with my plants while watering them.

Get On The Daily Chores

To be honest, I don’t do it on a regular basis. But since the situation has turned out so, I don’t mind doing the chores. I enjoy cooking and the rest of the chores come complementary with it. So I help my mum prepare lunch and do the dishes.

Grab Some Food

By the time I get on my breakfast, it’s almost 9:30 am. I get done with all my morning tasks and then get on with my breakfast. While doing that I like to watch something. Nowadays, it has become quite a habit to watch ‘Man With A Plan’ on amazon prime. I at times go forward and binge two more episodes if I have some extra time.

Work From Home

I am working from home for obvious reasons. So by 10:00 am I am on my laptop getting started with my office work. I start with checking my inbox, preparing my to do for the day and bidding hi to my colleagues. I stay on it till it’s lunchtime.

Lunch Time

By 1:30 pm in the afternoon, I am super hungry. I like to have lunch with my family. So we all sit together while watching the television. Post lunch, I again do the afternoon utensils and sit around for a bit. During this break, I get on social media, post some new content, read your comments and just interact with you people.

Back To Work

Post lunch and the tiny break, I again get back to my laptop. Since I am into content and marketing. I do a bit of both. I develop content for the apps, websites and blogs. I also market the company and its products on various platforms digitally. In addition to that, I am responsible for the onboarding of new clients and handling the existing clients. Honestly, I enjoy doing all of it. The best part is I get my creative freedom and I get to interact with new people.

Chilling Time

I get done with my work by 6:00pm in the evening. Usual evenings are quite relaxed in comparison to the mornings. After working all day, I don’t feel like going to study or do any chores right away. So I will either sit with my family, talk about the day or scroll my phone. Somedays, I end up watching a movie as well.

Time To Prep Dinner

I have finally got into cooking. I belong to an authentic Indian family. So we mostly eat rotis (flatbread) along with sabzi (Indian curries). I do the whole thing right from chopping to cooking and from kneading the dough to making the roti. Again I do the dishes.

P.S. I have become a pro at doing the dishes.

The Night Routine

The day is almost over for me. I wash up and do my night skincare routine. I head to my room to do the things which I miss doing during the day. I catch up on my college syllabus. I read the newspaper. Then I pick my planner and plan the next day. Once that’s done, I give a call to my friends or chat with them. Finally, I turn off the lights and read my kindle before going off to sleep. Real bliss for me.

This is how a day in my life looks like. It looks pretty packed but I do manage to take some time for other aspects of my life. I totally enjoy my days working. I feel this is one of the best times. Over the weekends, I chill. I like to stay relaxed and go out on the weekends.
